Quality documentation for your foil containers

You may need quality documentation to approve a supplier, review a food-contact material or release an order. The document you need depends on the decision in front of you.

We can review your request against the container, closure and intended use. If a file covers only part of the pack, that limit needs to be clear before you rely on it.

Your review may involve the tray, its closure and separate paperwork for each component.

Which quality documents do you need?

A supplier certificate, a product test report and a batch record answer different questions. Here is what each can tell you, and where its scope ends.

DocumentWhat it can supportWhat you still need to establish
Supplier or management-system certificateYour review of the named company, site and activities within the certificate's scope.Whether the specific tray, lid or printed surface meets your product requirements. A company certificate alone does not answer that.
Product test reportResults for the sample identified in the report, under the stated test conditions.Whether the sample, material and conditions correspond to your pack and intended use.
COA or batch recordThe stated checks for an identified material, production lot or shipment, where that record is available.Which lot it covers and which properties were actually checked. It is not a record of every possible test.
Sample approval recordThe version you reviewed, the checks you accepted and any points still open. The status of later changes and any conditions that were outside the sample trial.

Document availability and scope need confirmation for your item. These categories are not a promise that every file is available for every product.

Does the paperwork cover your complete pack?

Your quality documentation may identify the foil tray but leave the closure outside its scope. A change to the coating or printed surface can also need a separate review.

Tray
The model, material and food-contact surface need to correspond to the item being reviewed.
Closure
A clear lid, board lid and sealing film are different components. The tray's paperwork should not be assumed to cover all three.
Print or coating
The surface involved matters, including whether it can contact food. Artwork approval establishes the design you accepted, not food-contact suitability.

Quality documentation and your sample trial

You can accept the appearance of a tray while its closure or heating trial is still open. Recording those decisions separately avoids treating one approval as acceptance of the whole pack.

The sample approval checklist covers the checks and observations you can keep with the sample reference.

What did the trial actually include?

  • The tray and closure versions you used, including print or coating where relevant.
  • The food, fill level and handling or heating conditions in the trial.
  • What passed, what failed and what has not yet been tried.

For rim fit, dimensions or performance questions, the Technical Library covers the physical checks.

When does your quality documentation need another look?

A repeat order can still contain a material or packing change. The useful question is whether the previous review covers what you are ordering now.

A different lid or film

The closure reference and its intended use need checking, even if the tray model stays the same. Fit, sealing and document scope are separate questions.

New artwork or coating

The updated proof identifies the design revision. Any change to the printed or coated surface also needs to be considered in the product review.

A different market or use

A new destination, food type or heating process can raise questions that the earlier review did not address. Your importer or QA requirements help define that review.

Revised carton packing

Pack count, separate lid packing and label references need to match the shipment arrangement. The carton specification checklist covers those details.

Questions about quality documents

You may already have a required file name, or you may only have a question from your QA team. Either is a starting point for the discussion.

Can I request documents before choosing a tray?

Yes. You can ask about the product family and the documents you expect to need. Matching a report to a particular product will still require the model, components and intended use.

Does a food-contact report confirm oven performance?

Not by itself. You need to know what the report tested and under which conditions. A physical heating trial and the review of the lid, coating or film may answer different parts of your question.

What if I do not know the document's exact name?

You can send the requirement as you received it, along with the product reference and destination. We can review what it asks for without guessing from an abbreviation.

Where can I find background on EU food-contact requirements?

The European Commission's food-contact legislation overview explains the general framework and material-specific measures. It is background for your review, not evidence that a particular Qixin product complies.

What does your QA team need to confirm?

Tell us which container you are considering and what your quality documentation needs to support. A product photo or model reference is enough to begin the conversation; we can discuss the missing details with you.
