Foil container printing for custom trays and pans
Your logo, colors and artwork can be part of the foil itself. Qixin offers foil container printing in up to nine colors. We can review your design, prepare the print layout and agree on a physical sample before bulk production.

How foil container printing reaches the finished tray
We print the aluminum foil before forming it into containers. An engraved cylinder carries the design, and its recessed cells transfer ink to the foil. Each color uses a separate cylinder.
Your artwork then takes on the shape of the tray. A logo that looks right in a flat file still needs checking on the sidewall, around a corner and near the rim.
What you approve on the sample
The formed sample lets you judge logo placement, small text, color and the areas left unprinted. You can also see how much of the design remains visible with the lid fitted.
Still choosing the tray? The custom container range covers shape and size. The product catalog has individual product entries.
What we need from your artwork
A finished technical file is not necessary for the first conversation. A logo or reference image is enough for an initial review. Before plate-making, we will need an approved layout for the chosen container.
| Part of the design | A useful starting point | What we review with you |
|---|---|---|
| Logo and lettering | AI, EPS or a vector PDF. PSD files are also accepted for review. | Edge definition, small type and details that may lose clarity after forming. |
| Brand colors | Pantone references or an existing printed sample. | The appearance on aluminum and the physical color sample you will approve. |
| Position on the tray | Your selected model, drawing or a photo showing the intended print area. | Sidewall, base, corners and rim, including areas you want to leave unprinted. |
| Patterns and gradients | The original artwork rather than a screenshot alone. | Fine lines, tonal changes and alignment where colors meet. |

Approve foil container printing colors on a physical sample
A screen emits light; aluminum reflects it. A Pantone reference gives us a color target, but the printed foil sample is where you can judge the result on the material you are ordering.
If you are matching an existing pack, we can compare it with the new sample. Pale colors, large solid areas and fine gradients deserve a close look before you commit to the full run.
Pantone's color system overview explains its reference systems. A reference number does not replace approval of your printed container.

When you reorder
We retain physical color samples from production. Your next foil container printing order can be checked against that retained sample and the approved artwork version.
When a detail is difficult
Gradients and detailed patterns need an artwork review. We will discuss what can reproduce clearly, and any adjustment to approve before plate-making.
Your printing plates and repeat orders
The printing plates you pay for are yours. We store them at our Zibo facility for reorders, alongside the artwork information needed to identify the correct design.

Reusing the same design
Existing plates avoid making the same artwork again. Your reorder quote still needs the current quantity, container model and production requirements. Plate reuse does not make every later unit price lower automatically.
Changing or moving your plates
A change to the engraved artwork may require new plates. We review that cost before you approve the change. If you move production elsewhere, your paid plates can go with you; contact us to arrange the transfer.
Foil container printing questions
These are the details worth settling before your design goes to plate-making.
Artwork for foil container printing
How many colors can I use?
Qixin offers gravure printing in up to nine colors per design. Each color uses a separate engraved cylinder. We review the artwork and confirm the plate requirement with your quotation.
What if my logo is not print-ready?
You can send a rough design or the file you have. We work with our plate-making partners on the technical print layout and return it for your approval before production.
Can I print gradients and detailed patterns?
Yes, subject to review of the artwork. Fine lines and tonal changes need checking in the print layout and sample. We will discuss any changes with you before making the plates.
Performance and repeat orders
Will the color be the same on my next order?
We retain physical production samples for comparison on reorders. The approved artwork version and retained sample give us a shared reference. Color acceptance should be agreed for your item rather than based on a screen image.
Can the printed tray go in a freezer or oven?
That needs confirming for your exact container, coating, print and lid. Please tell us the temperature, holding time and food use. We can then review the relevant sample checks and documentation instead of applying one temperature range to every printed pack.
What happens if I change the design?
A change to the engraved design may require new plates. We check the revised artwork and confirm any additional plate-making cost before you approve it.
How long does plate-making take?
The usual guide is about one week after artwork approval. We confirm the timing for your design and production schedule in the quotation. Artwork changes or additional sample approval may affect that schedule.
Can you review inks and food-contact documents?
Yes. The request needs to identify the container, printed surface, intended food use and destination market. The ink and coating information must relate to that item. Our quality team can review the documents required for your order.
Have a design in mind?
Send your artwork with the container you have in mind and an approximate order quantity. If a detail is still undecided, tell us which one. We can start there.
